vivo has officially launched the Y600 in China, adding a fourth model to its Y600 family. The new phone joins the Y600 Pro, Y600i and Y600 Turbo, and it puts battery life front and centre in a way few phones at this price do.

The headline is simple: a 10,000mAh battery in a regular-looking smartphone. vivo is pitching the Y600 as a phone you can use for days without hunting for a charger, and the rest of the package is built to match that practical, everyday focus.

Battery and Charging

The Y600 carries a 10,000mAh battery, one of the largest ever fitted to a mainstream vivo phone. vivo says the phone can manage up to 28 hours of long video playback in its own lab tests, and it has also pointed to a marathon streaming test that ran for 32 hours and 37 minutes.

Charging is handled by 44W wired fast charging, and the phone can also charge other devices in reverse through its USB-C port. ## Display

Up front sits a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 2,800 x 1,260 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. vivo also promises HDR support, 10-bit colour and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, so the screen should stay readable outdoors and look vivid when watching videos.

Performance and Storage

Power comes from MediaTek's Dimensity 7300e, a 6nm chip built for efficient everyday performance rather than flagship gaming. It is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and fast UFS 3.1 storage, which should keep apps and multitasking feeling responsive.

Camera

For photography, the Y600 keeps things simple with a single 50MP rear camera. It uses an f/1.8 aperture with autofocus, and it is aimed squarely at everyday shots rather than a complicated multi-camera setup.

Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP front camera set into a small hole in the display. ## Software and Extras

The Y600 runs OriginOS 6, vivo's software based on Android, with its usual mix of customisation and smart features. Security comes from an in-display fingerprint scanner, with face unlock also available.

The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, which is a welcome surprise at this level.

Design and Colors

The phone measures 163.9mm tall and weighs 224g or 225g depending on the colour, so the giant battery does add some heft. It comes in three finishes: Sapphire Blue, Diamond Gold and Obsidian Black. ## Price and Availability

In China, the Y600 starts at CNY 1,999 (around $280) for the 6GB + 128GB model. The 8GB + 128GB version costs CNY 2,099, the 6GB + 256GB version costs CNY 2,199, and the top 8GB + 256GB model is priced at CNY 2,499.

Pre-orders are already open in China, with full sales starting on October 30. ## Final Thoughts

The vivo Y600 is not trying to be a flagship, and that is exactly its appeal. It takes one thing most people care about, battery life, and pushes it further than almost any rival, while still offering a good screen, a capable chip and tough water resistance.
