Samsung has launched the W27 in China, a luxury take on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with gold accents, an 8-inch foldable display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 power and a 200MP camera, starting at CNY 18,999.
Samsung has officially launched the W27 in China, adding another premium foldable to its W series. The new phone is built for buyers who want flagship power wrapped in a far more luxurious package, and it arrives as part of the company's long-running partnership with China Telecom.
Underneath the fancy finish, the W27 is closely related to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. That means buyers get top-tier hardware, but with a design that looks and feels very different from the regular foldable.
Design and Colors
The W27 stands out the moment you see it. It comes in a dual-tone red and blue finish, with gold trim running across the frame, the hinge, the camera module and even the lens rings. A gold Heart to the World emblem sits on the back panel, giving the phone its signature luxury look.
Both the front and back panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, and the box includes a special collector's edition package with a 45W charger and a Kevlar protective case.
Display
Open the phone and you get a large 8-inch inner folding display, while the cover screen measures 6.5 inches. Both panels use Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, so the big screen should be great for reading, multitasking and videos.
Performance and Software
Powering the W27 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM. Storage comes in two options, 512GB or 1TB, so there is plenty of room for apps, photos and videos.
The phone runs Android 17 with Samsung's One UI 9 on top, and it includes the Galaxy AI suite with tools like instant search and live translation. Samsung's Knox platform handles security, and the W27 also adds satellite connectivity through the Tiantong network.
Camera
On the back, the W27 carries a triple camera setup led by a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Both the cover display and the inner screen house a 10MP front camera, and the phone supports video recording up to 8K.
Battery
The W27 packs a 5,000mAh battery, which supports 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging, enough to get most users through a day with fast top-ups when needed.
Price and Availability
The Samsung W27 is available in China in two configurations. The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs CNY 18,999, while the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model is priced at CNY 21,999.
It is sold through Samsung's official online store in China, and buyers who register during the reservation period can also get a Samsung Care+ premium service package. The phone remains a China-exclusive model for now.
Final Thoughts
The W27 is not a brand-new foldable from the ground up, but it does not need to be. It takes one of Samsung's best foldables and dresses it up for buyers who want something rarer and more eye-catching, with gold accents, a dual-tone finish and flagship cameras.
It is clearly aimed at the luxury end of the market. For everyone else, the regular Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra offers the same core experience, but the W27 is the one that turns heads.
