Samsung W27 Luxury Foldable Leaked Ahead of October 29 Launch with Fold8 Ultra Specs and Gold Design

Samsung is getting ready to launch the W27, its latest China-exclusive luxury foldable, and the device has now appeared in a leaked photo. According to a well-known tipster, the W27 will be unveiled on October 29, and its specs are identical to those of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

The W series never leaves China, so most of the world will only ever see it in photos. But as a showcase of Samsung's most premium foldable craft, it is always worth a look.

Leaked Design

The leaked image shows the back of the W27 in a deep dark blue, with gold accents on the frame and around the camera island. Near the bottom sits the W series' gold seal logo. The triple camera setup and the pill-shaped camera island look exactly the same as on the Fold8 Ultra, which fits the claim that the two phones share their internals.

It is a classic W series look — dark, glossy, and unapologetically luxurious. The gold detailing is the whole point of these phones: they are meant to look and feel like a step above the regular Fold.

The W Series Tradition

If you are not familiar with the W series, here is the background. Every year Samsung releases a fancier version of its current Fold that is exclusive to China and sold through China Telecom. These phones get premium designs, usually in black and gold, more RAM than the global models, and bigger retail packages with extra goodies in the box.

Last year's W26 was based on the Galaxy Z Fold7 and added satellite calling and messaging through China's Tiantong system. Both its 512GB and 1TB versions came with 16GB of RAM, and it was sold in red and black, both with gold accents. Prices started at CNY 16,999 (about $2,390), with the 1TB model at CNY 18,999 (about $2,670).

Expected Specs

Since the W27 is essentially a Fold8 Ultra underneath, we can expect the same hardware: a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, an 8-inch foldable display, a 6.5-inch cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 200MP main camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Fold8 Ultra already comes in a 16GB RAM and 1TB storage version, and judging by the W26, the W27 will likely ship with 16GB of RAM as standard.

Price and Availability

Samsung has not announced pricing for the W27 yet — we should find out on October 29. Looking at last year's W26, which started around $2,390, the W27 will not be cheap. Like every W series phone, it will be sold only in China through China Telecom, so international buyers should look at the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra instead.

Final Thoughts

The W27 is not a phone most people can buy, but it is still an interesting one. It takes the excellent Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra formula and wraps it in the dark blue and gold luxury styling that makes the W series special. For collectors and China-based buyers who want the most exclusive foldable Samsung makes, October 29 cannot come soon enough. For everyone else, the Fold8 Ultra remains the phone to get — same specs, much wider availability.
