RedMagic OS 12 Based on Android 17: Rollout Schedule Revealed for 11 Pro, 10 Pro Series and Gaming Tablets
RedMagic OS 12 is built on Android 17, and it made its debut on the RedMagic 12 Pro+ last week. Now RedMagic has announced exactly which of its existing phones and tablets will get the update — and when each of them will receive it.
The schedule covers two full generations of gaming phones plus RedMagic's gaming tablets, so if you own a recent RedMagic device, there is a good chance your turn is coming. Here is the full picture.
Rollout Schedule
The RedMagic 11 Pro and 11S Pro series go first, with their updates arriving in December. The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro follows in January. March brings the update to the RedMagic 10 Pro and 10S Pro series, the RedMagic 11 Air, and the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. Finally, the RedMagic 10 Air brings up the rear in April.
One important note: this schedule is for China only. RedMagic has not yet said when the global versions of these devices will get RedMagic OS 12.
Fresh New Interface
RedMagic OS 12 brings a redesigned interface, and the most visible change is a giant clock that gives the home screen a bold new look. The whole system has been reworked around it, so even longtime RedMagic users should notice the difference the moment the update lands.
AI Features
Artificial intelligence plays a big role in this update. RedMagic OS 12 adds an AI Magic Island feature and a new assistant with a memory function that can remember context across conversations. There is also one-tap file transfer that works with Apple devices, which should make moving files between a RedMagic phone and an iPhone or Mac much less of a chore.
Gaming Upgrades
Gaming is where RedMagic always shines, and OS 12 goes further. The game space has been redesigned so it adapts to each game's theme, and there is a new esports training area with built-in shooting and reaction mini-games to help players warm up before a match.
The update also includes version 3.0 of the X-Gravity platform, which handles cloud gaming, console streaming, and playing mobile games on a bigger screen. For a brand built around mobile gaming, these upgrades matter more than almost anything else.
Availability
As mentioned, the dates RedMagic shared apply to China. If you bought your device outside China, you will have to wait for a separate global schedule, which the company has not announced yet. Based on past rollouts, the global updates usually follow a few months later.
Final Thoughts
RedMagic OS 12 looks like one of the biggest software updates the brand has shipped in years — a new look, real AI features, and a serious push on gaming tools. The staged rollout means the newest owners get it first, which is fair, but 10-series owners will have to be patient until March or April. The open question is the global timeline, and we will be watching for it. As soon as RedMagic shares international dates, we will let you know.
