Huawei's New Starlight Brand Tipped to Debut with Wide-Screen Phone, Kirin Chip and Up to 16GB RAM

A new leak claims Huawei's upcoming Starlight sub-brand will debut next month with a wide-screen phone, a 6.39-inch display, a Kirin 9000-series chip and up to 16GB of RAM.

Huawei may be about to add another name to its phone lineup. A fresh leak points to the first phone from the company's upcoming sub-brand, known in Chinese as Xingmang, which translates to Starlight in English.

The brand itself was first reported earlier this month, but this is the first time we have heard anything specific about its debut phone. If the leak is right, the first Starlight handset will not look like a typical Huawei phone at all. Here is what is being tipped.

A Wide-Screen Design

The most unusual detail is the shape. Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station says the first Starlight phone will use a wide-screen candybar design, which suggests a broader, less tall body than the slim rectangles most brands sell today.

That is a bold choice for a brand-new line. A wider screen could change how the phone feels in the hand and how content fits on screen, but it could also make one-handed use trickier. Until we see the phone itself, the exact proportions remain a mystery.

Display and Performance

The leak points to a 6.39-inch display on the first model. That is on the smaller side by today's standards, which fits with the idea of a compact, wide-bodied phone rather than a giant flagship.

Under the hood, the phone is tipped to run a Kirin 9000-series chipset. The top version is said to offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which would put it well above entry-level territory and closer to a premium device, at least on paper.

What We Know So Far

It is worth keeping expectations in check, because the details so far come from a single tipster and Huawei has not confirmed any of them. The tipster also notes that Starlight is only an English translation of the Chinese name Xingmang, and it may not end up being the brand's official name at all.

An earlier report had suggested something quite different: that Starlight phones would be mid-range devices with Kirin 8-series chips. That report also claimed the phones would run HarmonyOS and keep Huawei's XMAGE camera technology.

Launch Timing

According to the latest leak, the first Starlight phone could arrive as soon as next month. That would make November a busy month for Huawei, coming right after the Pura 90 series launch.

There is no word yet on pricing, cameras, battery size, or whether the brand will stay in China or go global. Those details will matter a lot, especially if the wide-screen design turns out to be the brand's signature feature rather than a one-off experiment.

Final Thoughts

A new Huawei sub-brand is interesting on its own, but the wide-screen idea is what makes this leak stand out. Most phones today look and feel very similar, so a different shape could help Starlight get noticed quickly.

For now, though, this is still just a leak. The chip, memory, and display details sound promising, but the earlier mid-range report shows how much can still change. If the phone really does arrive next month, we will not have long to wait for the real answers.
