Huawei has officially launched the Pura 90 Plus in China with the first-ever Kirin 9025 chip, a 1-inch variable aperture camera, and a 5,700mAh battery, starting at 5,499 yuan.
Huawei has officially launched the Pura 90 Plus in China, completing the Pura 90 family with its most distinctive member. The phone stands out as the only model in the lineup with a curved frame, and it is also the first phone anywhere to run Huawei's new Kirin 9025 chip.
The launch follows last week's teaser and pre-order opening, and this time Huawei has confirmed everything: full specifications, colors, and pricing. Here is what the Pura 90 Plus brings to the table.
Performance
The Kirin 9025 is the headline act under the hood. Huawei says its combination of hardware, software, chipset, and cloud optimization delivers around 19 percent better overall performance than before. It is the first time this chip has appeared in any phone, which makes the Pura 90 Plus the debut device for Huawei's newest silicon.
Display
Up front sits a 6.8-inch quad-curved display with a 2848 x 1276 resolution. The LTPO panel adjusts its refresh rate all the way from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on what is on screen, and it supports 1440Hz PWM dimming plus a 300Hz touch sampling rate for smooth, responsive scrolling and gaming.
Camera System
The camera setup is built around a 50MP main sensor with a large 1-inch size. It uses a variable aperture that opens from f/1.6 to f/4.0, so it can pull in more light in dark scenes and sharpen up in bright ones, with optical image stabilization keeping shots steady.
It is joined by a 48MP macro telephoto camera with an f/2.1 aperture and OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a 1.5MP multispectral color camera. On the software side, Huawei's XMAGE tools cover portraits, landscapes, and low light, with features like AI pose recommendation, AI-assisted composition, ultra HD panorama, and an enhanced super night mode.
Battery and Charging
A 5,700mAh battery powers the phone, with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging on board. The phone also supports two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, so it can send and receive messages even without a mobile signal.
Software
The Pura 90 Plus runs HarmonyOS 7 out of the box. Huawei's Super Storage feature is also included, which the company says can free up to 110GB of space on the 1TB model by managing stored content more efficiently.
Design and Colors
Unlike its flat-edged siblings, the Pura 90 Plus goes back to a curved metal frame, which Huawei says gives the phone more texture and a better grip in the hand. It comes in four colors: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Sunset Purple, and Dawn Gold.
Price and Availability
The Pura 90 Plus is on sale in China in three configurations: 12GB + 256GB for 5,499 yuan (around $815), 12GB + 512GB for 5,999 yuan (around $889), and 16GB + 1TB for 6,999 yuan (around $1,037). Sales begin on October 31 at 10:08 China time.
Huawei is also running a Double 11 renewal offer from October 28 to November 30, which takes up to 300 yuan off, bringing the starting renewal price down to 5,199 yuan. For now the phone is a China-only launch, with no global availability announced.
Final Thoughts
The Pura 90 Plus is Huawei's most interesting Pura 90 model: a curved frame no other sibling has, a brand-new Kirin chip, and a serious camera system built around a 1-inch variable aperture sensor. The pricing sits firmly in flagship territory, but so does the hardware.
The big open question is whether it ever leaves China. Until Huawei says otherwise, this one stays a China-exclusive, and buyers elsewhere will have to watch from the sidelines.
